Yummy Korean BBQ

There was one key suburb of Auckland that we had yet to visit, Birkenhead. So today we decided was the day to break that virginity and go for it. After work we drove across to the shore to find a Korean restaurant.

Atmosphere

We arrived at Yummy Korean BBQ and found it already had many diners in it.

A friendly man greeted us and gave us menus and we ordered shortly after. There were many people that were dining and it blew our minds. There were a lot of white people which isn’t that common, but I guess that’s what you get in Birkenhead?

The walls were strewn with photos of dinners which gave a great feeling to the place.

Food

We were both in the mood for some more traditional Korean food. So today we ordered the good old marinated BBQ pork, spicy beef soup, and tteokbokki. Yummy yummy! It didn’t take long for the guy to bring over our food, it all came at once so we got right into it.

Oh and it needs to be mentioned that at first there was no kimchi, yet we think the guy may have heard us loudly complaining about the lack of kimchi because next minute he walked out with a little bowl. Stoked!

The food was nice, we both really enjoyed it and left the restaurant feeling very full. We’d definitely go back for a casual meal, however, let’s be honest, we have had better food elsewhere.

Value for price

It was good. $34 for the two of us (but remember there sadly was no alcohol today).
