Sool Zip is very dimly lit which is good for a pre-drinking session on your way to a night out. As such, it doesn’t have a a real “restuaranty” atmosphere. Which is quite neat for the right occasion. It’s located near the Chancery just off High street up an escalator.
Atmosphere
Dark, outside dining, good for smokers. Again, you wouldn’t typically associate smoking with dining, but it’s Korean dining, which means sometimes food is secondary to drinking and socialising. Because we were in the drinking mood we felt the atmosphere was perfect for our situation.
Food
Unfortunately, there were no free side dishes, and when we requested kimchi we were told it would be an additional $2.
The kimchi strangely it fizzed in our mouths. An experience we’ve never had before. We discussed it and both acknowledged that we didn’t enjoy it. We thought it was due to the soju shot prior, but after a few more bits we realised it was the actual nature of that particular fermented cabbage.
Those dumplings were beautiful. Small and cute like Dan likes his girls. (At this point writing the review we have imbibed a reasonable amount).
The requested spicy sauce is some-what “fake” and wasn’t legit gochujang. It might be all they have…
Ordered “spicy” chicken which is pretty much fried chicken with the “spicy” sauce.
Side note: don’t laugh after a shot of soju… The taste comes back up!
