Red Pig

Dan told me to meet him near the art gallery in the bustling CBD. I arrived via bus and got the the art gallery, and looked around and saw A NEW KOREAN BBQ.

It was a BBQ (not buffet) and there was an array of meats from beef to pork, ribs to steak to choose from the menu.

We decided to flip a coin to decide our meant. During, a waitress came and gave her opinions on which meats were most popular. We thanked her politely and decided to continue with our coin flipping routine til fate decided.

The result was pork, marinated beef and a soybean soup. Awww yeah.

Atmosphere

Being a new place the atmosphere was great! It was clean and tidy while also being one of the trendiest Korean restaurants in town opening up into Khartoum place.

They played a mixture of K-pop and top 40 tracks which fitted nicely to the mood of the restaurant.

Neither of us found the name ‘Red Pig’ to be particularly appealing but hey, that’s personal opinion.

In terms of service, the staff were all young and very approachable. Despite a small amount of confusion about the menu with one of the waitresses, all in all the service was great. Oh and the table next to us was having a great time drinking cold tea and soju!

Food

We were weary when the waitress said we had to order a minimum of two servings for the BBQ. We thought, ‘what’s wrong about ordering one meat and soup? However the waitress informed us we had to order a minimum of two meats for the BBQ. We ho’ed and hum’ed but accepted the two meats rule. We flipped coins and came up with pork steaks beef galbi.

When the pork steak came out (raw for us to cook) Dan was shocked it was so little. However, moments after we were presented with an assortment of side dishes and sauces. Our faces quickly changed to wide smiles of excitement. We both exclaimed that it was the best range of BBQ meat and side dishes we had seen in a while.

Value for price

For food we bought the pork, the beef, and the soy soup. When I came to drinks we got a beer and two whole sojus! While it was more expensive than usual we had a great experience that made up for the higher price.
