Pine House

It had been years since Anna dined at Pine House in Birkenhead, and it was Dan’s first time. As noted on the sign outside, the food takes after both Korean and Japanese.

Atmosphere

When we stepped inside the restaurant we felt the homely, family vibe. Despite the fact that we were the only customers at 7:30 in the evening, it still felt warm and welcoming (we should note that by the time we left the place was pumping).

One thing we didn’t like too much was the Top Gear on tv, personally we would have loved a good old Korean show or music video.

Food

The majority of the dishes were Korean, with other Japanese influence being seen such as teriyaki tofu.

Teriyaki mussels

We decided to branch out a little today by ordering corn cakes, spicy mussels (which somehow came out as teriyaki mussels), and BBQ beef. Being the only people there the food came out very fast! It was all delicious and we were stoked about the many side dishes.

An array of sidedishes

Despite the fact that the mussels came out as teriyaki flavoured they were very good. Dan, who never eats mussels, even ate and enjoyed a couple.

Value for price

At $39.50 for the meal, we really can’t complain.
