Considering we had the car, we decided to head back to the shore to find another new Korean restaurant. Zomato led us to Rosedale road in Albany, and when we arrived we were both shocked and delighted to find not just one but several Korean restaurants! All in a row.
With smiles on our faces we entered the restaurant at the beginning of the row which is called Onggojip. The interior was a little messy but very homely and what we would expect from a traditional Korean restaurant. The friendly man serving took us over to our table where we sat down to examine the menu.
Also as a nice extra they had cute traditional booths where you could sit on the floor, however this time we sat at chairs.
Atmosphere
The furniture and chandeliers felt a little out of place and they were playing old school western music, but overall it was very welcoming. Also as a nice extra they had cute traditional booths where you could sit on the floor, however this time we sat at chairs.
Food
We ordered beef soup (youngyang tang), a seafood pancake and the good old steamed dumplings. The soup was amazing (as a side note it came with purple rice) with an interesting mustard flavour and beautiful beef that fell apart.
The seafood pancake was top notch, and the dumplings were big, juicy, and delicious. Oh we I can’t forget the side dishes, the kimchi and unknown pickled vegetable were spicy and full of flavour! We loved them.
Value for price
Very reasonable price. Happy to give it a high rating.
Overall rating
Overall the food was some of the best Korean food we have had in a long time with Anna complaining how happily full she was. We will definitely be returning!
